Stock No. 5-F-2150
Flag, Geneva Convention, Red Cross, Ambulance and Marker
The Red Cross Flags were to be flown by all “Ambulances”
or non-combat vehicles which were protected as medical transport
vehicles under the Geneva Convention during WWII. Used on jeeps,
trucks, halftracks and other vehicles, these flags doubled as Geneva
Convention non-combat markers at aid stations and casualty collection
points.
Our Red Cross Flags are made from 100% cotton bunting and constructed
by means of “cut edge” embroidered edging. This assembly
method duplicates the original pieces manufactured during the early
part of WWII and again in many theater made examples throughout
England, France and Italy. Our flags feature a reinforced pipe sleeve
and a three part appliqué field construction, one of three
industry standard assembly methods used by the flag industry before
1955. Overall size is 1'6"x2'3" with a 1.25" sleeve
as per US Army Regualtion 260-10 (1942).
