Our 1921 pattern U.S. Army
insignia is made from 100% wool felt and custom dyed to
match unissued original examples. Issued from the 1920s
and into America’s involvement in WWII, these “felt
on felt” rank patches were originally intended for
wool garments such as the Service Coat, Overcoat and Shirt.
Nevertheless, during the war, wool felt patches could
be seen on many uniforms from Field Jackets to Jump Uniforms
and became a popular private purchase item on “Four
Pockets” and “Ike Jackets” due to their
professional appearance.
